The title „Pra Somdet" is given to a religious teacher or leader who has achieved a high level of knowledge and wisdom about Buddhism.
The amulets which are called "Pra Somdet" are blessed from such a religious teacher (acharn-monk).
These amulets are normally square sized and made from clay mixed with a lot of other different ingredients which have all their special meanings.
It is said that the wearer of a "Pra Somdet amulet" will appear (to others) as a likeable person, has success in life (and tasks) and if he believes very strong in his amulet his life will steadily improve. A "Pra Somdet amulet" is also protective against force from an other person.
The amulets are different in sizes (square from small to large) and are always showing "Lord Buddha" sitting in different styles.
Like:
- Samatie: sitting in meditation
- Marn Wiechai: challenging the evil
- Naak Prok: under protection of a naga
- Prok Poh: in meditation under the bodhi-tree
It is believed that Phra Somdej could bring good luck, confidence, justice, intelligence and success to the wearer.
